Seventeen people attended a public meeting held Tuesday, June 22, to learn more about the proposed private development on Pilgrim Point. Pilgrim Point Shores, LLC owns 35.5 acres and plans to divide it into 28 lakeshore lots, four non-lakeshore lots and land intended for 14 individual townhomes.

Douglas County is conducting an Environmental Assessment Worksheet for the project, which is required under state statute.

Land and Resource Management Director Dave Rush hosted the public meeting which was held at the end of the Douglas County Planning Advisory Commission meeting.

Those in attendance asked about homeowners being held accountable for building in a bluff area, whether there were plans for too many homes in a small area, what size lots will be sold, and whether there will be restrictions on lighting in the area.

One man who lives closest to the proposed development aired his concerns over the road leading into it and the process the county is using to develop the land it purchased adjacent to the development.

Rush explained the meeting was limited to the environmental concerns and explained to the audience the next steps.

Members of the public have until 4:30 p.m.  July 8th to review the Environmental Assessment Worksheet and provide their comments on the project. Please see the previous article for more details.
