Members of the public will continue to provide valuable input into the future of the county park on Pilgrim Point. Hundreds of people have already responded to an online survey which allowed planners to create concept drawings of the future park and beach area. On Wednesday, April 28 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. the county will host an open house so people can see the drawings in person and offer further comments.

“We look forward to presenting the drawings which showcase the various amenities the public has expressed an interest in,” said Brad Bonk, Douglas County Park Superintendent. “This is a beautiful piece of property and we are excited about developing it for residents and visitors to enjoy long into the future.”

The open house will be at the Douglas County Public Works building at 526 Willow Drive in Alexandria. Masks and social distancing will be required. There will also be a virtual option to attend. Offer your opinion by using this link

Douglas County commissioners approved the purchase of 8.2 acres of land at Pilgrim Point on Lake Ida last fall. The county is working in coordination with a development group to build a road and bike trail into the park. Once the public weighs in on the draft plans, the county can move forward with its decision- making process.
