Case Details:

The call for assistance came at approximately 10:49 a.m. Saturday, December 21,to the Douglas County Law Enforcement Center. Dispatchers received a 911 report of two persons down and unresponsive in a silo at the above address. The Millerville Fire Department and First Responders were immediately dispatched to the scene. A short time later 911 dispatchers were advised that a third person was down and unresponsive in the silo. Also responding were Douglas County Sheriff's Deputies, two North Ambulance trucks, two Parkers Prairie Ambulance trucks, two Life Link III helicopters, one North Air helicopter, the Alexandria Fire Department with an ariel truck, and the Minnesota State Patrol.  

Deputies learned that Curt Boesl and his son Alex were working in the top of the silo and were apparently overcome by fumes.  Another son was outside the silo, observed what happened, and called 9-1-1.  The son also called his uncle, Steven Boesl, who lived nearby. Steven Boesl arrived on scene and entered the top of the silo to extricate Curt Boesl and Alex.  Steven Boesl was then apparently overcome by fumes.  

The Millerville Fire Department and First Responders were able to extricate the three victims from inside the top of the silo and began resuscitation efforts. Curt and Alex Boesl were treated on scene by ambulance personnel and each were transported from the scene by Life Link III helicopters. Curt Boesl was flown to St Cloud Hospital and Alex was flown to Minneapolis Childrens Hosptial. Steve was pronounced deceased on scene by ambulance personnel.  

His body was later transported to the Midwest Medical Examiners Office for cause of death determination.  

The third victim from a farm accident on Saturday, December 21, has died. Eleven year old Alex Boesl was pronounced dead on Friday, December 27. He had been hospitalized at Children's Hospital in Minneapolis. His uncle, Steven Timothy Boesl, age 49 of rural Millerville, died at the scene of the accident. His father, Curt Francis Boesl, age 47, of 11737 Gravel Pit Road NW, Brandon died early Sunday morning, December 22.
