Environmental
Health - Water Quality
Water quality is monitored by several different agencies in Minnesota.
Douglas & Pope Counties Environmental
Health does NOT offer water testing services to homeowners.
Water Testing at Licensed Establishments
Douglas & Pope Counties Environmental Health conducts water testing
at our licensed establishments that have private wells each year. A sample
is obtained by staff and submitted to an approved laboratory for analysis
of nitrate/nitrite levels and presence of coliform bacteria. If elevated
nitrate levels or coliform contamination is found, the water supply is
retested and monitored until the problem has been solved.
If you are one of our establishments with a private well that has tested
positive for coliform bacteria or elevated nitrate levels, here are some
forms you may need
Coliform
Present Notification (to post at water supply access points)
Elevated Nitrate Level
Notification (to post at water supply access points)
Disinfection Procedure (for coliform contamination)
